Founder’s Vision

“ As I enter the grounds and the building of Laurels – the School, I feel that all 48 years of patience and struggle have been well worth it! I began my teaching career as a Nursery teacher in 1974 and went on to teach intermediate classes. I finally decided to establish my own school in 1986.
I co-founded ‘Study Hall’ – a school with a difference, now a CBSE K-12 school in Lucknow, India. After Study Hall celebrated its Silver Jubilee, I decided to extend my quest to impart quality education to the rural and under-served areas. So, Amaltaas Foundation came in to being.
I had dreamt of a truly child-centric school, where children would be free to explore, find answers/solutions themselves. Where they would be free from fear of violence... physical, mental, verbal, unknown.
As caregivers we must understand and respect that each child is unique, with different ways, styles and pace of learning. Children are natural learners and must be encouraged, not compared, criticized or stereotyped. Our main job is to create a happy, nurturing, encouraging environment for learning in which they can bloom and grow.
I can see my dream unfolding here at Laurels."

Laurels is a pre-primary to class 6 English-medium school.
The first phase of the school building was constructed with generous contributions from family and friends, a hefty bank loan and all my life savings! The construction began on April 8, 2019 and the first set of 10 classrooms with a staff room, 2 offices and a small computer lab was completed by February 2021.
We opened school on the 1st of March 2021. Emerging from the Pandemic, we started with 13 underprivileged children and have now grown to hundred plus and growing.

OUR OBJECTIVE

  • Offer a high quality, English-medium education to empower the village children to break through the invisible language barrier that marks the rural-urban divide and stand shoulder to shoulder with the children in Lucknow City’s best private schools
  • Goal: to prepare students with the knowledge and life skills needed to become creative thinkers and problem solvers, and follow their dreams in a college or university and walk into the job they desire.
  • Leave no child behind – to ensure that no child in the village is excluded or left behind, Laurels offers extra support and help for students with special needs and disabilities.
